Junior Researcher and Project Manager
Lorena Borges Dias (1993) is a Junior Researcher and Project Manager at DEMO. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Brasilia, Brazil (2021), and a Master of Science degree in Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation with specialization in Urban Planning & Management from the University of Twente, The Netherlands (2023). She has worked as a project-based Consultant in Urban Mobility focused on advising on sustainable and low-carbon strategies for large municipalities in Latin America (2018-2019), and in Housing & Urban Development focused on advising on environmental and socially inclusive strategies for small and medium-sized municipalities in the Amazon region (2023-2024). In her Master's thesis and research project (2023), she investigated the role of digital, spatial, and social dynamics in shaping inclusive and responsible smart cities and their impacts on people’s lives. Lorena's interests are the intersection of geospatial analysis, digital technologies, and built environment governance, with a focus on responsible and inclusive strategies that shape daily life across different scales—from buildings to cities and regions. At DEMO, she is conducting research and managing projects for Horizon Europe and LIFE initiatives focused on sustainable and innovative solutions for the built environment, such as REGEN, AntifragiCity, Minority Report and BuildUpSpeed.
